All these unwanted issues can happen overnight in winter! So, how can we prevent these problems and ensure guitarists can rest easy during the winter?

Maintain Proper Humidity: Guitars generally require a humidity level between 40% and 50%. Keeping the humidity around your guitar within this range will alleviate most concerns.
- How to Measure Humidity: A hygrometer, which can be bought for a few dozen dollars, is useful for monitoring the humidity around your guitar.

Keep Away from Heat Sources: Avoid placing your guitar near air conditioners or heaters! Don’t place it directly on heated floors or in front of air conditioner vents. High temperatures can cause the guitar to expand and contract, leading to unpredictable consequences.
Store in a Guitar Case: In winter, besides ensuring proper room ventilation and humidity, it’s best to store your guitar in its case when not in use. Adding a soundhole humidifier can provide extra protection.
